Resource Sharing Supervisor

Summary

The Resource Sharing Supervisor coordinates resource sharing services for the Georgetown University Library by ensuring that resource sharing requests are reviewed and accurately filled in a timely and efficient manner; and sets priorities and makes decisions on a variety of complex matters. Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates the performance of Access Services Specialists and student employees
  • Complies with the ALA Interlibrary Loan Code and copyright law
  • Maintains proficiency in the standards, policies, fees, and services of the department, the Library, and the University and exercises good judgment in communicating them to the Library’s patrons
  • Provides basic research assistance to users 
  • Ably adjusts to periods of increased workflow and varying responsibilities, communicates efficiently and effectively with users; and successfully works as part of a team in a complex, changing environment.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS
  • 3 years of library experience
  • 2 years of experience working with Resource Sharing Platforms
  • Familiarity with the role of academic libraries meeting the information needs of students, faculty, and staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience supervising others
  • Strong public service orientation
  • The ability to learn new software programs and technologies
  • Familiarity with Google Apps, especially Gmail, calendar, and Drive
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and to push carts weighing over 100 lbs.


 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with Alma and RapidILL
  • 2 years of experience with OCLC ILLiad 
  • Experience navigating bibliographic databases, spreadsheets, and cloud storage
  • Experience with digitization equipment, resources and tools
  • Familiarity with software technologies - i.e., Adobe
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a complex, changing environment
  • Ability to be diplomatic and negotiate disputes with stakeholders
