Parking and Public Transportation

Visitor parking $2 per day.  Pay for and receive a temporary permit at the Dept. of Public Safety, Carlin Hall, First Floor


WRLC visitors with valid IDs from their universities may ride the Gallaudet shuttle bus from Union Station (Metrorail Red Line).  The unmarked Union Station stop is in front of the stations near the Tourmobile stop.  Shuttle information is available at http://transportation.gallaudet.edu/shuttle.html.

Eastern Market Metrorail users take the 92 or 94 bus north to the campus entrance at 8th and Florida Avenue, N.E.  From downtown or Union Station take the D2, or D8 bus to 8th and K Streets, N.E.  Follow 8th Street two blocks north to campus.


Library Regulations

Open to the public for use of materials within the library. Borrowing privileges extended to Gallaudet University students, faculty, staff, and alumni and to eligible faculty, staff, and students of WRLC institutions.

Loan and Period Fines

The loan periods for materials are:

Overdue books are fined at 25 cents per day up to a $25 maximum.
Services for Individuals with Physical and Learning Disabilities
The Library conforms to ADA standards for accessibility by people with disabilities.  CCTVs with magnifiers and screen magnification software are available.  All staff are skilled in the use of sign language, and public telephones are equipped with TTys and amplifier handsets.

Special Collections

Deaf Collection: print, microform, film, video materials on deaf people, deaf culture, hearing, and sign language. Extensive holdings on the education of deaf people. Gallaudet Archives: archival materials related to the history of deaf people and the records of Gallaudet University, including rare books, manuscripts, photographs, and memorabilia.
