Parking and Public Transportation

Pay parking garage entrance on Van Ness Street, west of Connecticut Avenue.

The Van Ness/UDC Metro Station (red line) is adjacent to the campus.


Library Regulations

Borrowing privileges are extended to UDC students, faculty, staff and eligible students and faculty from WRLC institutions. Libraries are open to District residents but no borrowing privileges are extended.


Loan and Period Fines

The loan periods for materials are:
  • Undergraduates: 4 weeks
  • Graduate students: 6 weeks
  • Faculty: three fixed due dates a year (1/31, 5/31, 9/30)
Overdue books are fined at 25 cents per day up to a $ 25 maximum.


Services for Individuals with Physical and Learning Disabilities

The Learning Resources Division on the Van Ness Campus (Building 41) is accessible to all persons on level A, and with elevator access to levels 1, 2, and 5. Resources for the handicapped include a Laboratory for the Visually Impaired (Room 108), equipped with two computers with ZoomText, Jaws and Readiris Pro 8 software and scanners for reading. Internet access with DecTalk is available as well as screen magnification. A color video camera also provides magnification of 3-D objects. The Webster\'s Student Dictionary in Braille is also available.

Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives, slavery source materials, D.W. Griffith Papers, The Schomburg Clipping Files, Hampton Clipping Files 1897-1954, the Atlanta University Black Culture Collection, the Papers of W.E.B. DuBois, and Black Biographical Dictionaries, 1790-1950.
